Targetline: Who's behind it

Paul Thornley: PGA Pro and Director of TargetlinePaul Thornley: the PGA Pro behind Targetline:
the indoor golf system

Paul Thornley, PGA Pro and Golf Coach, is the founder of Targetline.

Paul’s golf career started at the age of 13 and by the age of 17 he was a scratch golfer. In 1989, with a handicap of plus 2, six British Amateur championships and the same number of British Opens under his belt, Paul turned pro and joined the European Tour.

However, his true passion lay with coaching and his boss, ex Ryder Cup golfer Peter Butler, suggested that he devote his time and skill to developing other people's natural golf talent.

Over the next ten years Paul taught a diverse range of people from a variety of backgrounds, from five-year-old children to an 86-year old wartime doctor; from executives to priests; from actors to barristers, and even rose to the challenge of coaching visually impaired golfers.

Over the years, Paul became aware of the lack of golf practice aids that could be used in a confined indoor area all year round. He also wholeheartedly believed that practice was pointless without measurability, and in golf, that practice was futile without a ball.

With these fundamentals in mind, Paul developed the Targetline system. Now full swing shots can be safely practiced indoors, with immediate feedback. Golf swing inaccuracies can be overcome, and practice can go on throughout the year, regardless of the weather.

Paul Thornley regularly uses Targetline when teaching golf, as well as setting it up as an indoor golf competition when entertaining guests at home!
