Finding the Correct Tee Height

To get the full benefit of the raised ball position, it is vital that you set the tee correctly.

There are 6 possible settings and Paul Thornley’s ideal setting is green. In this video Paul demonstrates how to find the correct Targetline tee height.

It is the club’s design that determines the correct swing plane and not the golfer using it.

There are two key datum points designed into the club and both play a major role in finding the correct tee height setting. The white line on the bottom groove on the club face must be horizontal to the turf and perpendicular to the tee top. At the same time, the grip guide line must point at the golfer’s left hip. In this position the club is in its optimum position to apply its forward hit.

When standing in the correct swing posture, if the tee is too high, the groove line will point up and the toe of the club will be off the turf. In this case, lower the tee to correct the groove line.

The same applies in reverse; if the groove line slopes down and the heel of the club lifts off the turf then check your posture and raise tee until the line is horizontal.

If you have stopped growing then this will be your Targetline setting for life.
